Faculty of Law, Tianjin University is qualified to enroll Master students majoring in legal science. We have the following Master programs: economic law (since 2004), civil law (since 2010), international law, intellectual property law, environmental and natural resources law (since 2015), and criminal law (since 2015). The faculty also has a special Master program: Juris Master (aiming to cultivate experts in legal practice). We have around 300 students at school. In total, we have educated 296 Master students and 1442 Bachelor students.
Our courses and teaching purposes are designed in accordance with national need for rule of law, the development strategy of the whole university, and the requirements of the Ministry of Education and the postgraduate school of Tianjin University. We have adopted a high academic standard to design and implement our teaching programs. Each Master student is assigned with a tutor (supervisor), who takes care of the academic development of the student. We also divide Master students into different studying groups, in order to facilitate them to study, research, and do some internship based on their interests. The faculty encourages students to attend academic conferences to improve their academic and social skills.
The study period for academic Master student is usually two years, including course learning, judicial practice for the first year, and thesis writing for the second year. The study period for Juris Master student is usually three years, including course learning, judicial practice for the first two years, and thesis writing for the last year.
