Foreign Law and Comparative Law Research Center of Tianjin University (hereinafter “the Center”) was established on December 18, 2015. Under the guidance of the China Behavior Law Association Judicial Behavior Research Association, the Center is sponsored by the Law School of Tianjin University and is a professional institute engaged in the study of foreign law and comparative law in Tianjin University. Prof. Liu Zhao Xing, the Honorary President of the Chinese Society of Comparative Law Research, actes as the director of the center. Currently, the center has 15 Ph.D. graduates and many of whom have obtained doctorate degree in the United States, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands and other countries. All these factors contribute to the smooth development of the Center.
Since its establishment from the end of 2015, the Center has been actively carrying out basic and applied research in the field in line with the principle of "the stone of other hills can be used to attack jade". The important members of this Center has undertaken a number of provincial and ministerial projects. Decade papers have been published in Global Law Review, Law and Social Development, and Wuhan University International Law Review and other domestic and foreign high-level journals, which causes social impact.
At the same time, the Center is also actively committed to provide a reference for the government decision-making, the relevant research results have been formed to be submitted to the State Intellectual Property Office and the State Council, and won the Tianjin Award for Outstanding Decision-making Consulting. In addition, it is also one of the major tasks of the research center to organize professional seminars for relevant government and industry professionals to conduct pragmatic and efficient exchanges and cooperation in the field.
Conference on the theory and practice of investment legal guarantee under one Belt and one Road from comparative perspective was held in Tianjin University on 22 October, 2016, which was hosted by the Center. Senior practitioners from the Supreme People's Court, China Development Bank, China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, Ministry of Commerce, Beijing New Century Institute for Multinational Corporations, First Venture Capital JP Morgan Securities Co., Ltd., China Polyglot Agricultural Industry Cooperation Zone and other relevant universities Experts and scholars from all over the world gathered together to discuss important topics such as investment market access for countries along the Belt and Road initiative, financial support and the construction of overseas economic and trade cooperation zones, green development and investment dispute settlement mechanisms.
