In April 2009, TJU Law School signed a cooperative agreement with Tianjin Binhai Stock Exchange to set up the Legal Research Center of Financial Innovation as a basis for cooperation between the two parties. Liu Xiaochun, TJU Law School professor, has served as its director with faculty members on financial law as researchers. It also employed Li Fangjian from Tianjin Binhai Stock Exchange, as an adjunct researcher.
Since its establishment, it has held a seminar on Legal System of Financial Innovation and Supervision in Tianjin with the participation of Director Lei Yingjun of Legislative Affairs Office of Tianjin Municipal Government, Deputy Director General Fu Liying of Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Justice, Director Jiang Yiming of Tianjin Financial Regulation Department, Executive Vice President Han Huaming of Tianjin Law Society, Secretary General Li Shaodong of Tianjin Law Society and more than 70 scholars from Tianjin University, Nankai University, Tianjin University of Finance and Economics, Tianjin Normal University. The meeting was hosted by President Han Zhihong of Tianjin Economic Law Society, the participants discussed the legal system of financial innovation and supervision in three parts, the speakers gave brilliant lectures and comments. Finally, the meeting was ended by a humorous and wonderful summary delivered by Professor Wan Guohua, the Former Law School Dean of Nankai University. The conference was crowned with great success.
In the course of the operation of the research center, its researchers have published more than ten papers on financial innovation in the past few years, many of which have been published on CSSCI Journals. And its researchers led one Tianjin Philosophy and Social Science Fund Project, two research projects of Tianjin Law Society and numerous Tianjin University independent innovation fund projects with good social influence and reputation.
